Posted on November 22, 2023

Project POSEIDON, an innovative initiative aimed at combating corruption in the port sector, was successfully presented at the workshop on anticorruption initiatives and projects in the framework of CERIS (Community for European Research and Innovation for Security) event held in Brussels on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

The workshop, which brought together experts and stakeholders from various sectors, focused on tools, approaches, and emerging challenges in preventing and investigating corruption. During the second panel of the workshop, dedicated to the detection and investigation of corruption and shared with experts from OLAF , DIGIWHIST and the TRACE project, the Fondazione SAFE had the honor of presenting the POSEIDON project.

POSEIDON’s primary objective is to strengthen European-level actions against corruption in major EU ports. It aims to create the first formal network of public and private port-sector stakeholders, fostering the exchange of information, experiences, and best practices. By facilitating collaboration and cooperation, POSEIDON seeks to enhance transparency, integrity, and responsibility within the port sector.

The workshop provided an excellent platform to discuss the prevailing issues related to corruption at the European level. It was an opportunity for attendees to engage in meaningful conversations, share insights, and explore new methodologies to combat corruption effectively. The conclusion of the event featured a stimulating discussion on the emerging challenges associated with corruption, further emphasizing the importance of initiatives like POSEIDON.

POSEIDON project aims to work towards a corruption-free port sector, promoting cooperation and implementation of best practices in the ongoing fight against corruption.
